Last week I conducted my drawing for the giveaway of Ari Weinzweig’s pamphlet entitled “Bottom Line Change: A Recipe for Effective Organizational Change.” My winner appears to be out of pocket and I won’t hear from them until later this week. In the meantime, I’ve been reading the book and listening to the previous episodes to prepare for a big project at my work.

I’m trying to find ways to adapt the BLC outlined in my current job. Since it’s my full-time gig, I’m going to be pretty hush about that. However, I did want to mention a couple things that stood out to me while reading:
Collaboration is hard, time-consuming, and worth it. Getting more people helping and providing input will not only open the project lead’s eyes to new perspectives, but also get buy-in from more of the team.
Like construction, building a strong foundation and creating a comprehensive pre-job plan will take a long-time. If completed with care, focus, and vision, it will pay off in the long-run like the collaboration. You will avoid re-work, frustrations during the project that can often stall or kill a project.
If change is allowed to nurture and flourish from within all levels of the company, you will get buy-in, not only to the project but to the greater purpose of the organization. People will feel valued, heard, and like adults. Lastly, the will have more job satisfaction.
As I move forward I hope to instill some of these principles in the work I’m doing.
Because of work and life “stuff” I am moving the show to a “once-a-month” format for the next few months. I’m sure I will create smaller shows in between interview episodes when I have an update or thoughts on the latest in Inspired and Intentional business news.
